i Flautisti recorder quartet was formed in January 2008 by Ilona Veselovská, Danielle Jalowiecka, Jitka Smutná and Isobel Clarke, who met whilst studying recorder at the Royal College of Music.
The quartet performs music ranging in style from Mediaeval to Contemporary. Their programme includes original works for recorder and also arrangements for recorder quartet of pieces for other instrument combinations. i Flautisti use a diverse range of instruments in varying styles and registers, including reproductions of authentic historical recorders and modern instruments.
Despite their relatively recent formation, i Flautisti have already played several concerts at many different venues, including the National Gallery and a Buddhist temple! Separately, the members of the quartet have also performed with many different ensembles in the UK, Europe, and even as far abroad as Japan.
i Flautisti aim to display the exciting range of repertoire and styles that a recorder quartet can perform, mixing well-known Jazz standards and folk-music with more standard repertoire from the Mediaeval, Renaissance and Baroque periods. Each member of the quartet has a different area of specialism and we have combined our knowledge and enthusiasms to create an original and exciting programme.

Tempus fugit, or ‘time flees’: as Virgil observed, time is always escaping us, and it ought not to be spent on meaningless detail. We seek to break down the barriers between performers and listeners, to explore Europe's past together through the melding of song, dance and story: time well spent.
Ensemble Tempus Fugit was founded in London by postgraduates at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Our singers, players and dancers also draw on training at institutions such as the Hague and Paris conservatoires, and work with leading early music performers including Laurence Cummings, Trevor Pinnock, and Christophe Rousset.
The Live! Scheme of the Brighton Early Music Festival will provide us with a welcome opportunity to experiment with an informal space, where the songs, steps and dances of Renaissance England will mark out the heart's battlefield, and the affection of one woman is vied for by two very different men.
