Early Music Live!

How to Audition

For 2008 it is only possible to audition through the four main London music colleges, Trinity College of Music, The Royal Academy of Music, The Royal College of Music and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. From 2009, we hope to extend the scheme and arrange open auditions. Most of the four colleges will allow both current students and recent graduates (those who have graduated within the past 3 years) to apply. Generally, the majority of ensembles will be made up of final year graduate students, postgraduates and recent graduates.

If you are interested in auditioning, you will need to supply:

  • contact details during term-time and holidays for each participant of your ensemble
  • a CV of the ensemble and the individuals applying
  • a CD, if available
  • Please also write a short statement of approx 200 words explaining why your ensemble is suitable for the scheme and why you think you should be selected.
  • You will need to demonstrate that your ensemble is fully formed and has undertaken at least 2 public performances together.

Where to send the application

For students past and present at Trinity College of Music, The Royal College of Music and The Guildhall School of Music and Drama, please contact the head of the Early Music Department about your application. For students past and present of the Royal Academy of Music, please forward the above information to the festival directly by emailing clare@bremf.org.uk or calling 020 7281 6864 or 07778 042978.
