Mike Clemens Gabrieli got me hooked!
How I started singing
All my musical life I regarded myself as an instrumentalist, but I was increasingly yearning to sing as well - so much early music is vocal after all. Then I went on a music course at Canford, directed by Alan Lumsden. Part of the week involved rehearsing and performing a Gabrieli multi-choir work which needed as many singers as possible. Alan just assumed that all the instrumentalists would sing too, and so I got assigned to a part (thankfully not on my own). I enjoyed myself so much that I vowed that I must continue to sing after that week!
Why I love it

1. The music.
2. The sense of achievement when it goes right.
3. The feeling that YOU are the instrument; any errors cannot be blamed on a duff reed or a dodgy pad or valve.
3. The people you meet.
