Deryck Hanchett Brighton Male Voice Choir
How I started singing
I have been singing for as long as I remember. I was brought up in the Salvation Army. My mother was a welsh soprano, my father a semi professional bass. Both my sisters are altos and both my brothers are tenors. Me, I'm a tenor/baritone.
Why I love it

I have always enjoyed singing and find it very enjoyable. I find the harder I work the more enjoyable it becomes. I was deputy conductor with the Brighton Welsh Male Voice Choir for 17 years and have only recently taken up as musical director of the Brighton Male Voice Choir. The choir was formed in 1927 and it still performing. I try to make belonging to the choir a fun experience and have managed to get the Argus involved in writing articles about us. A new one is due to appear soon. The choir, at this time is about 18 strong and we are starting a campaign for new members. We are hoping for some form of grant to help us grow.
