Yvonne loves chamber choirs
How I started singing
I sang in the compulsory school choir, but was allocated an alto part because I could play the piano and could therefore sight-read an inner part. Then I did nothing until my 30s when a friend took me to see her choir and I was hooked from the first bar. I was introduced from the front, made eye contact with an alto, who is still one of my best friends, and have sat on the alto/second sop divide ever since. I've since realised I'm more of a mezzo, but still sing alto at Christmas, because carols can get very tedious as a soprano. I've sung in many big and small choirs, and now sing with Chamber choirs performing repertoires from many centuries. The people I've met in choirs are extraordinary, interesting and life-long friends.
Why I love it

After a tiring day, singing always uplifts me. It's the closest I get to heaven, and I love knowing that the gift we all have can be shared in such a wonderful way. It's also a great brain work-out!!
