Pat Zielinska Life-long love
How I started singing
I always loved singing as a child. At the age of 9 I won a paintbox for an unacompanied rendition of Greensleeves so was obviously destined for early music! I sang in the choir at my secondary school, but as it was a girls school it was a bit limiting. But then at 15 I fell in love with 'Elijah', a love affair that has lasted ever since - my school combined with many others (including boys!) to sing it, with orchestra, at the Westminster Central Hall. It was so wonderful, and after I left school I went round joining choirs that were performing it, and thus went on to sing lots of other major works. When I came to Brighton, I fancied something smaller, and joined Brighton Consort, 20 happy years of singing ago.
Why I love it

Apart from the joy of being part of amazing music, there is a special element for me. Being disabled, and 'confined to a wheelchair', it is one of the only things I can do with other people.
