Brighton Early Music Festival events take place in a variety of exceptional venues across Brighton and Hove (often up to 15 different venues each year), and getting to see some intriguing buildings and locations is part of the Festival’s magic. Almost all are easily accessible by public transport and we also list the closest car parks and on-street parking. See Venue Information below for more details.
2025 Venues
Church of the Holy Cross, Woodingdean
Downsway, Woodingdean, Brighton BN2 6BD Public transport: Buses 2 and 22 from central Brighton stop directly outside the church on Warren Road. Parking: Free on-street parking is available on Downsway and surrounding roads. The church has a small car park which may be available for disabled parking. EV charging: on-street type 2 chargers on Kipling Avenue and Batemans Road in Woodingdean operated by Blink. Asda at Brighton Marina has type 2 chargers operated by BP Pulse.
St Luke’s Church Queen’s Park
Queen’s Park Road, Brighton BN2 9ZB Train: closest station is Brighton Station - take bus no 18 from Stop E or bus no 21 from Churchill Square or Old Steine. Buses: No 18 from Brighton Station or No 21 from Churchill Square to the Pepperpot. Parking: paid on street parking in surrounding roads. Some free parking at top end of Freshfield Road. EV Charging: Rapid chargers in Ashton Rise BN2 9QR.
The Dance Space
2 Market Square, Circus Street, Brighton BN2 9AS Train: 15 minutes’ walk from Brighton Station. Buses: Any bus to Old Steine or North Street including 1/1X, 2, 5/5A, 7, 12/12A ,14, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28/29, 37, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 700 & (daytime only) 273. St Nicholas Church
Church Street, Brighton BN1 3LJ. Train: 8 minutes (steep!) walk from Brighton Station. Buses: Many buses serving Queens Road and Churchill Square, including 1/1X 2 5/5A 6 7 12/12A 14 18, 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28/29, 37, 46, 47, 48, 49, 50, 700 & (daytime only) 17, 270, 271, 273. Parking: Nearest parking at Churchill Square Orange Car Park (entrance via Regency Road, off West St). EV charging: Churchill Square car park has fast chargers operated by LiFe.
St Andrew & St Cuthman Church, Steyning
Vicarage Lane, Steyning BN44 3YQ Parking: Fletchers Croft Car Park (free after 6pm). Bus: No. 2 from North Street, Brighton to Thornscroft in Steyning which is a 3 minute walk from the Church. EV charging: Fletchers Croft Car Park has Type 2 chargers operated by Connected Kerb.
St George’s Church
St George's Road (junction Abbey Road), Brighton BN2 1ED. Train: 30 minutes' walk from Brighton Station or bus 7, 14C, 37 to County Hospital or 12/12A, 14, 27 to Paston Place via Marine Parade. In addition buses: 1/1X, 14B, 23 & (daytime only) 271, 272 run from various locations to County Hospital. Buses: 1/1X 7/N7 14B 14C 23 37 & (daytime only) 271 272 to County Hospital; 12/12A, 14/14A, 27 along Marine Parade to Paston Place. Parking: On-street parking near the church (limited) but also on Marine Parade to the east. St Martin’s Church
Lewes Road, Brighton BN2 3HQ. Train: 20-25 minutes' walk from Brighton Station or Compass bus 37 (infrequent) from stop H. Alternatively take a 10 minute walk to Churchill Square to connect with several of the buses listed below. Buses: 25, 28/29, 48, 49 serve the Elm Grove stop on Lewes Road and 21, 22, 23 serve the stop at the bottom of Elm Grove. Parking: NB Lewes Road is now a red route so no stopping is permitted, even to drop off or collect a passenger. Limited on-street parking near church - payment by the pay-by-phone app or at a convenience store with PayPoint (Lewes Road Premier Convenience Store 192-193 Lewes RD and Liquor Hut store 53 Lewes Road – see getting there section). Alternatively, park at London Road car park (see information for St Bartholomew’s). From there a 10-15 min walk or most buses listed above from London Road shops (stop C). St Margaret of Antioch, Rottingdean
The Green, Rottingdean, Brighton BN2 7HA. Buses: 12/12A/12X, 14/14C, 27 to Rottingdean White Horse (15 min walk) or 2 to Rottingdean Green (much nearer venue but slow and less direct from City centre). Parking: Pay and Display car parks at West Street (BN2 7HP) and Marine Cliffs (BN2 7HY), both 15 minutes’ walk, payment ONLY by at paybyphone.co.uk). Street parking (limited) free of charge.
