BREMF Emerging Artists Applications
Our 2026/27 opportunities for emerging ensembles and solo singers are now open for applications, with a deadline of 15 April 2026. Auditions will take place in London and Birmingham on 10, 11 & 12 May 2026. Please read the full details below and then click here to apply.

About the Scheme
BREMF Emerging Artists is much more than a performance opportunity. Participants benefit from a year of mentoring and training; a summer residency at Hawkwood College in Gloucestershire; performance showcase opportunities in Brighton; plus a digital showcase; and a day of workshops in primary schools.

Guidelines for Applicants
- The scheme runs June 2026 – March 2027, with performances in Brighton on Friday 9 October 2026 (for solo singers) and Saturday 10 October 2026 (for ensembles). Please make sure that you are available on the relevant date before you apply.
- Ensemble size is usually limited to 2 – 6 musicians with an early music specialism (from medieval to early romantic), including instrumental, vocal and mixed ensembles.
- We are seeking 2 sopranos, 1 alto and 1 tenor as Emerging Artists Solo Singers for our Fairy Queen project with the London Handel Players.
- We don’t specify an age range but the scheme is for musicians at the early stages of a professional career. Generally we would expect most participants to be either final year or postgraduate students, or to have graduated within the last three years.
- There are opportunities to get involved throughout the year, so BREMF Emerging Artists is most suitable for participants who are based primarily in the UK, although some of the online training opportunities will also be opened more widely including for interested musicians from mainland Europe.

How to Apply
- Send your application, including a link to a performance video, via our google form by 11.59pm on Wednesday 15 April 2026.
- For ensembles, your video should show your whole ensemble performing repertoire which is appropriate to your specialism.
- For singers, your video should be of mid-baroque repertoire in English if possible eg. music by Purcell, Blow, Locke etc. All applicants should have experience in performing pre-classical repertoire.
- Auditions for shortlisted ensembles and singers will take place as follows:
In London on Sunday 10 & Monday 11 May
In Birmingham (TBC) on Tuesday 12 May - Ensembles called for audition will be asked to perform two contrasting pieces, and singers to perform an excerpt from Purcell’s Fairy Queen. We will provide an accompanist for the vocal auditions.
- If you have any questions, please contact Cathy Boyes, Festival Producer at cathy@bremf.org.uk
